Is the Yama Bond 4 the same as yamabond 3?
It’s the same a Yamabond 4 which is what you want for use on cases. I found threebond 1184 while looking at yamabond, but yes, the 4 being ‘semi-drying’ looks like the one. Thanks for the info.
Which is the best Yama bond for smoke engines?
No real help, but to say that yamabond (sorry I cant remember the grade) has worked well for me in the case of 2 smoke engines. I believe Threebond 1104 is relabeled as the various -bonds i.e. Yamabond, Ducatibond, Hondabond etc.
What kind of gasket do you use for Yama bond?
Excess Yamabond internally hardens and can break off clogging filters, etc, while the anaerobic products only harden in the absence of oxygen therefore cause no problems. These products are available at any auto parts store. I use Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker # 51813.
When to use ThreeBond 1184 for engine sealing?
Threebond 1184 is what we use in the shop to assemble engine cases. Or anything else that needs sealing. I put a bit on every drain bolt when changing the oil. Just don’t go crazy with it and let it tack up for 5-10 minutes before assembling the parts.
