It will take 30-40 minutes depending on which route you decide to take. This will depend on how fit or unfit you are. The walk up is most enjoyable with some really good views.

This walking route is only 6km, so this is an ideal quick easy walk for when time is at a premium. There are a number of other Moel Famau walks to choose from, including from Loggerheads Country Park, from Cilcain or the Moel Arthur Car Park. All the routes will include a section of Offa’s Dyke National Trail.

The best route, IMHO, is from the forest car park (where the toilets are) as there are several routes and they can go off lead until you get up on to the moorland.

Where to take Moel Famau on Cilcain walk?
Go through the kissing gate above the kennels, cross the tarred lane and on to the path signed ‘Leete path and Cilcain’. Cross the bridge at Devil’s Gorge, and continue to reach minor road (waypoint 2). Turn downhill and wind with the lane to cross the narrow bridge; don’t take the bridleway, but continue uphill to a sharp right-hand bend.
Is there a bus from Loggerheads to Foel fenli?
The main path contours around the western flank of Foel Fenli, however this route takes you steeply up to the summit where evidence of ancient fortifications still remains. Descend north from the summit to drop down to Bwlch Penbarra. With road access this can be a busy spot and there is a bus service from Loggerheads at peak periods.
