For those of you who are not familiar with tippet rings, they are an excellent way to extend the life of your tapered leaders without compromising the strength or buoyancy of your leaders and line. In other words, they are tiny metal hoops that you tie the butt section of your leader onto.

Can you see the rings on a tippet?
Tippet rings are relatively easy to see (for those of us suffering from birthday syndrome), so adding a new tippet is a snap when the hatch is on. I’ve lost some nice fish because I did not take the time to tie on a new tippet with a blood knot when fishing a conventional leader.
