What is progressive CLL?
Symptomatic or progressive CLL: The leukemia has caused significant changes to blood counts or other serious symptoms. Recurrent CLL: The leukemia has recurred (come back) after a period of time in which the cancer could not be detected. Refractory CLL: The leukemia does not get better with treatment.
What are the two types of CLL?
Types of CLL
- B-cell CLL. More than 95% of people with CLL have the B-cell type. And, about 1% of people with B-cell leukemia have a type called B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (PLL).
- T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia. The T-cell type of CLL is now called T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia.
What is the most aggressive form of CLL?
A small number of people with chronic lymphocytic leukemia may develop a more aggressive form of cancer called diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Doctors sometimes refer to this as Richter’s syndrome. Increased risk of other cancers.
