ARTP’s Professional Qualifications allow respiratory practitioners to update their skills and knowledge. Undertaking professional competency qualifications enables practitioners to demonstrate their competencies, allowing them to follow career pathways and take advantage of professional opportunities.
Is ARTP mandatory?

Do you have to be certified to perform spirometry?

Do you need a spirometry certificate to get on the Register?
If you are an experienced spirometry practitioner who needs to get onto the spirometry register, you may not need a training course. ARTP would recommend that you have received training within the last 3 years, and if you feel that you have sufficient experience, please proceed with your spirometry certificate (assessment) booking here.
Can You recommence your spirometry certification through ICST?
ARTP understands that as the COVID restrictions begin to relax, many candidates wish to reconnect with their spirometry certification programme. If you commenced your spirometry certification process via the Institute of Clinical Science and Technology (ICST) pathway, you should make contact with them to discuss recommencing your program.
Can you apply for ARTP After completing training?
Training is provided by many organisations and whatever training you choose to undertake, you are still eligible to apply to undertake the ARTP certificate of competence (assessment) which leads to being on the National Register, after you have completed your training.
