Nojob Smallenuf New Member. Not a plastering expert but I think the routine is to apply 1 coat of PVA and allow to dry fully i.e. 24 hrs., and then apply second coat of PVA maybe 1 hour or so prior to application of plaster. The second coat should be tacky rather than dry.
Why do you PVA before plastering?
PVA for Bonding Adding a coat of the glue to your wall surface just before you start plastering helps to bond the plaster to the wall. The PVA literally helps to stick the plaster in place in the same way it can bond two pieces of wood together.
What do other people think of Tyzack trowels?
Dunno what others think of Tyzack trowels lately.. in January this year we had to buy some more finishing trowels as my mates double tang popped a couple of rivets and my favourite skimming trowel was beyond hope (I’d cut the heel down after a split but it got worse and the edge was jimping like mad – thin steel I guess).

We wanted to buy some more Centenerys but found out they’ve been discontinued :RpS_cursing: All they had was Tyzack single tang finishing trowels that had to be ordered in so we bought 4 (shop ordered 5 to get a good discount). Since January all 4 have popped rivets!
