Why is the Hilltop hotel abandoned?
The original Hill Top was founded in 1888 and closed in 2008 after years of falling into disrepair. The hotel was damaged by fires in 1912 and 1919, according to a history of the building. Project officials say they’re working with the Town of Harpers Ferry to receive final approvals and permits.
