Is ported better than sealed?
Ported enclosures are typically used to get more output from the same power of an amplifier than a sealed enclosure because they are more efficient. They will also have more overall output than a sealed enclosure which means they can play louder overall. This gain in output comes at a small cost.
Does a ported box give more bass?
Ported boxes use a vent (called a port) to reinforce low bass response. You get more output than you would from a sealed box at any given amplifier wattage. Ported boxes can deliver deeper bass than sealed boxes, though they need to be much larger than sealed enclosures to accomplish that.

What happens if ported box is too small?
If the port becomes too small, it may result in port noise, or allow the woofer to simply unload. Do not underestimate the sub / port arrangement. Sometimes where you place the vents or subs can make a monstrous difference in output.
Can I make my sealed box ported?
You can place a port in your now sealed box. A simple hole saw and drill will do the trick nicely. Youll have to determine the net cubic air space. (net= space left after the subwofer is in) Then determine what tune frequency you want to port the subwoofer at.
Does a ProBox make a difference?
A regular carpeted box as well as a Probox are both made of wood, one just has a different covering than the other. One may be built better than the other which will affect sound quality.

It is possible to use polyfill in a ported enclosure, but this is not recommended, as it would then change the tuning of the box. Sealed subwoofer boxes generally yield a better, flatter frequency response curve when the enclosure is larger (to a certain point).

How big is a ported vented subwoofer box?
These ported boxes feature dense carpeting and fiberboard materials for long-lasting performance. Ported/vented enclosures can be up to twice the size of a similar sealed box since the airspace inside the chamber is much larger. The port can be a rounded ported or a vented slot which is narrower and taller.
How does a ported subwoofer enclosure work?
