A DOUBLE HIT OF COUNTRY MUSIC MAGIC COMING TO CRAVEN IN 2009
Though the World’s Greatest Country Music Festival is still six months away, it is never too early to daydream about the fabulous entertainment appearing under blue summer skies at the Craven Country Jamboree.
Two world class acts were added to that lineup today. Closing the show on Saturday night will be country music legend Clint Black. This country gentleman rose to stardom during the last surge in country music in the 1990’s. With 30 Top 100 singles, 13 number one hits, and 14 albums under his belt, this award-winning musician and actor will keep the crowd on its feet for his entire set. To get reacquainted with Mr. Black, watch the new season of Celebrity Apprentice starting March 1, 2009 on NBC.
Appearing prior to Mr. Black is platinum selling artist Rodney Atkins. The crowd at Craven will indeed become “his people” when he hits the stage on Saturday night. Atkins has enjoyed eight Top 40 singles and four number one hits. His first number one hit, “If You’re Going through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows)” was named Billboard Country Song of the Year in 2006. His second, “Watching You” was named song of the year in 2007. He followed up with the party anthem, “These are My People,” and “Cleaning this Gun (Come on in Boy).” With his stellar set list and his good ol’ boy attitude, Rodney is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
With these two names, unfortunately the Craven Country Jamboree has to say good-bye to one of its headliners.
“We recently received a letter from Trace Adkins’ management company stating that he has committed to tour with Toby Keith in 2009 and was therefore canceling his appearance at our show,” said show producer Brian Andrews. “We tried to work with management to find some sort of compromise, but it didn’t happen. Ours isn’t the only show to be affected.”
Andrews also said, “We knew fans would be disappointed, so we had to find a replacement that would be the equal to Trace. We decided to do one better and got two.”
Atkins and Black join an already star-studded lineup that includes country music legend George Strait, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, Joe Nichols, Billy Ray Cyrus, Doc Walker, The Bellamy Brothers, the Charlie Daniels Band, Jake Owen, Jason Blaine, Joe Diffie, Shane Yellowbird (brought to you by Creeland Mini-Mart), Jay Dee Bixby, and the Kentucky Headhunters, kicking things off at the Thursday Molson Canadian Rocks Kick-off Party in the beer-garden.
